Combat Air Crew Wings
(Pinned 1967)

Lord, guard and guide the men who fly
Through the great spaces in the sky,
Be with them always in the air,
In dark'ning storms or sunlight fair.
O, Hear us when we lift our prayer,
For those in peril in the air.

During the Vietnam War over 58,400 U.S. troops lost their lives. Of these, 2,663 were helicopter enlisted crewmembers (crewchiefs, gunners, medics, etc.) and another 2,172 were rotary wing pilots from all services (over 6% of all U.S. casualties). And of those who made the ultimate sacrifice, more than 14,800 (over 25%) were United States Marines. God rest their valiant souls.
